Tips: Understanding White Balance In Camera Android

This post will try to introduce one-on-one most of the features found in Android camera, the White Balance (WB). As you know, the camera features of Android is quite comprehensive, ranging from ISO settings, metering, to WB. But many of us have not taken advantage of these features to the fullest. Mostly because it did not know the function and usefulness, one of the only white balance is.

What is white balance?
As the name suggests, the white balance is the process of aligning the white color by the camera sensor. Why should diseleraskan? Due to the camera's sensor is not as smart as the human eye in defining white. Color is influenced by the amount and temperature of light there. A color can be changed in the camera observations, simply because it is located inside or outside the room; may differ because of different light temperatures. Well, here is the usefulness of WB. White Balance White will try to align it to be white. Why is it important diseleraskan white? Since white is a combination of all the colors, and the human eye sensor defines a variety of colors based on the color white.

Know the White Balance
Usually there are four options WB in (mostly) cameras, including camera Android, namely: Auto, Incandescent, Fluorescent, Daylight, and Cloudy.

Most of us, at least me, think the auto mode is the mode of the four random WB modes are present, but they are not. The workings of AWB (Auto White Balance) is looking for the brightest colors that will be measured as the color white. If an object has a background that is completely white, the AWB works properly. But the problem then occurs when the pictures taken do not have a reference white.

In a photograph of a landscape or scenery, avoid using AWB. This will make the photos look pale and uninteresting. Use the AWB for human portrait photography, but with a record of having a white background. Including human skin color complex, because it must be identified with the right. AWB can define precisely, the origin has a reference white color in the background.

Incandescent, Fluorescent, Daylight, and Cloudy.
Once I got the information that the mode Flourescent used for photos taken with the lighting of the room, or use the Cloudy white balance mode when cloudy, and so on. In fact this mode is not used in the weather or lighting conditions, but rather are used to obtain the desired temperature of the light.

The following table of comparison between the color temperature / light (measured in Kelvin) with the color of the light produced.

Threshold spectrum of colors that can be seen by the human eye is 3000 Calvin s / d 8000 Kalvin. Resulting in a bright white color temperature of about 5000 Kalvin. This is lower than the white color produced tends to bluish purple (below 3000 Kalvin). While above 5000 Calvin, yellowish white color tends to red (above 8000 Kalvin).
